Hlomu's life changes after meeting her Zulu Prince Charming Mqhele as she must now be the mother to him, his brothers and their children. She also has no experience when it comes to relationships because she has only dated one guy, Sandile whom she can even take weeks without talking to. In the book Hlomu is portrayed as an innocent young woman who is still trying to find herself. The book was loved by many because it is a local love story about a young woman from KwaZulu-Natal who comes to Johannesburg to pursue her career as a journalist and ends up falling in love with a Zulu taxi driver. In 2015, author Dudu Busani-Dube published the book Hlomu the wife.
